The longest rod in the range, though not the most powerful, that crown goes to the 88. If you do a fair bit of surf fishing, or you're generally out in rougher conditions off rock marks, this is a brilliant all-rounder for it. It isn't a rod I'd use on calmer days, and it isn't overly stiff either. The rating is one I've always loved, because it means you can fish pretty much any metal we'd ever need from the shore. If you're reaching for 40g the conditions have to be absolutely mad, and most of what we actually use is nearer 30, which is where this one sits happiest. It'll cast a metal a very long way, and because the range isn't ridiculously fast in the action you can wind a bit of power into it and really launch one. There's enough poke for the bigger shads too. Being the longest, it gets a slightly longer grip than the rest, which helps when you need to apply that power.
