Staying within just a few miles of the shore means that depths can vary hugely from slightly deeper wrecks to very shallow pinnacles or reefs, as well as around the more obvious rocky islands off of our coastline. Soft plastic Shads with weighted heads reigns supreme, but there are all kinds of lures that can come into play and obviously every day is different.

On the whole, rods need to be able to cast anything from 30g up to even 100g on occasion, depending on the depth and tide. Most anglers stick to lengths of around 8' or sometimes less. But there are certainly occasions where longer rods can come into play. You won't find too many of those here in this collection but they will be sprinkled throughout the bass and heavy shore sections if you are looking for one of those more specialist tools.
