Korean built, and very Japanese in the way it fishes. I don't often reach for a longer rod these days, mostly because I'm enjoying the estuaries, but for open coast and surf work this one is a beauty. At 9'6" it weighs 115g, which is the lightest I've seen at that length by some way, and NS are clever enough with their blanks that they make them for other brands too. What they've managed here is to keep the power and still take the weight out of it. The Hi-Tide SSD had this price point pretty well wrapped up for us until these turned up. Most of them will go out for open coast fishing, and that's what the length and the power are for, carrying the heavier metals and bigger shads that sort of ground asks for. But because of the way the tip works you've still got the feel for a lighter lure, so if you want one rod, or you fancy nipping round to the sheltered side when it blows up, it doesn't leave you stuck.
