Tailwalk Hi-Tide SSD 90ML

This is one of, if not the most popular, bass rod we've sold over the last few years. In this price point there's never really been anything that's quite touched it. A 9ft 35g sits just bang on the very middle of what most people would ever need or want to use, and it'll cover every bass lure we'd normally use but still have that little bit of extra power in the tank should the wind or the swell get up. It's always been the ultimate all-rounder.

If you're not sure what to buy, it's just the safest bet. I've been saying in the shop for years, hand on heart, that this is the rod I'd take for myself. There are lighter rods in the range, so have a look at the 86 if you want to fish lighter lures, but no matter what your preference is overall, the chances are you're going to enjoy using the 90ML.

The action is not too stiff or too steely or anything like that. It's certainly responsive and fast, but not at a level where it becomes a problem, which is great because it means casting is always a joy and super easy with these. You can work any type of lure with them.

Great quality guides too, and what Tailwalk have done here is different to what you see a lot of people doing these days. There's a bit of a race on to make lighter and lighter rods, and one of the cheat's ways of doing that is to put smaller guides on. The Hi-Tide range has stuck to more sensibly sized ones. They're not big by any sense of the word, and some people will still struggle to get a clip through them, but compared to other Japanese bass rods the Hi-Tide range is just sensible in so many different respects.

Within this price point I've always stocked a range, but so often people just leave with the Hi-Tide that in many cases it's rarely worth stocking the other options.
