A niche range, and a properly impressive one. We do not often need a long rod for bass in this country, but there are days on the rocks and in the surf where you do, and long rods are usually unwieldy. These get around that. Every model is three pieces with a put-in tip rather than a spigot or a put-over join, and on the 102 you can feel exactly what that does.

The tip is light, about what you would expect on a normal nine-foot bass rod, and then the power steps up hard through the middle section and again into the butt. It is rated to 35g and the tip reads about right for that, but the back half of the rod would cast 50g of metal without complaining. That is the whole point of it: enough feel to fish a light lure in rough water, and the power arriving the moment you hook something. The 108M and 112MH take it further again.
