Tailwalk Silverna Lago 65 CRANK

The Silverna Lago rods are area trout rods, so they are built progressive and a little parabolic on purpose - that give is what cushions a trout throwing itself about. This one is the crankbait model, and it is the stiffest of them through the middle. That matters more than it sounds: a chunky little crank digging in puts a lot of tension through the line, and a softer rod just sits hooped over while you retrieve.

With a bit more backbone in the middle you keep the shape of the rod, and you can still twitch the lure about when you want to. Rated to 6g, so small minnows and cranks are its home ground, and it is a lovely thing on a small river or a stocked pond. It would take little metal jigs in the sea too if you fancied it. The 63 Versatility is the one to look at if you want to cover more styles with a single rod.
