I'm glad NS put this one in the range. It arrived just after I'd been talking locally about pollack fishing in the deeper, darker water, big shads into heavy tidal flow, and this is exactly the rod for that job. Bass in the same sort of ground too. It sits in the seabass category on paper but it fishes more like a light shore jigging rod, and it's built to match: the longest and heaviest of the range, more robust throughout, with a longer grip than the rest of them. The rating means you can put a big minnow or a big sandeel down into the depth and still have plenty in hand for a decent fish. Boat anglers will get on with it as well. Plenty of the lads fish longer, heavier rods afloat so they can cast away from the boat and leave the fish undisturbed, and the extra length gives you the manoeuvrability for that. For the power you're getting, the price is remarkable. On the rating, it feels pretty accurate - it's that genuine next step up from the rest of our lure rods, and you can cast to the printed figure with confidence.
