Our best-selling rod of the last year, and one I had a real hand in. I asked Apia to build the rod that was always missing from the catalogues: the one that covers as much of our fishing as possible. At nine foot it gives you the reach and line control for open estuary and beach ground without wearing you out over a long session.

What sets it apart is the spread it covers. I've fished it with 3g of combined lure and jighead on a calm day and felt no disadvantage against far lighter rods, and there's still real power waiting in the butt for when the wind gets up and the swell builds. The tip is light and forgiving over a butt that genuinely drives, and because it's an Apia the top end is honest: it fishes weights a lot of rods only claim, holding together where others fade.
