About this rod
If you are ever unsure what to buy, a rod of about nine foot rated to 35g is going to be right for you most days you go out, and that is exactly what this is. It is listed as 8'10", which is nine foot in most other brands' terms. The 35g rating is, being Sakura, about honest - a 35g metal on the end would be lovely. They are not stiff and they are not overly powerful, they are just nice bass rods.
You get the usual Sakura touches: a longer grip than the Japanese rods, which gives you a bit more leverage in the cast, and slightly more robust guides. A lot of people much prefer both. At this price it is up against some very good rods and it holds its own, and Sakura themselves are good people to deal with if anything ever does go wrong. A sensible step up if you have outgrown your first bass rod.
