About this line

For a good few years now this has been one of our best and most reliable braids. There was a time when we stocked a far wider range of braids than we do, and it became obvious we were mostly selling the same ones every week, so those are the ones we looked at properly. Braid is one of those things where almost anything can go wrong and where everybody's preference is built on different experiences, but the Power Eye is pretty much universally approved. Lovely and supple, nice and smooth, and the quality for the money is brilliant.

I don't talk about breaking strains all that often, because they are so inconsistent from one brand to the next. The PE rating is more often than not the easiest way to work out what you actually want.

0.6 PE is the finest of the light blue spools, at the light end of the saltwater fishing this line covers.

0.8 PE is the light end of the bass sizes.

1.0 PE sits in the middle of the 0.6 to 1.5 band that covers our typical saltwater fishing.

1.2 PE is a step up again, still well inside the everyday saltwater sizes but with more in hand.

1.5 PE is the top of the band that covers our typical saltwater fishing, and the one for rougher ground.

2 PE sits above the 0.6 to 1.5 band that covers most of our saltwater fishing, for heavier work.

3 PE is the heaviest spool in the range, well above the sizes we sell for everyday bass fishing.

The 300m multi-colour spool is the one for boat work, or for anybody who wants to fill a reel properly. It changes colour every 10m - pink, blue, red, white, green - and within each of those runs there is a yellow dash roughly every 90cm carrying a different number of dots. Between the two you get a genuinely good read on how far down your lure is sitting, as long as you know where you started from. Plenty of braids are multi-coloured; far fewer bother with the markers inside each colour.

The light blue colour is lovely and it does not fade easily. I have spools a couple of years old that are still a nice bright blue - a little fading over time, as you would expect, but they are better than most for it.
