Team AOF Member Tim has spent the week on the other side of the world fishing the mighty Amazon.
“I spent an exciting week on this tributary of the Amazon with my friend Dan, chasing various freshwater species on the lures. The angling pressure was much heavier than anticipated, with around 15 boats at the lodge and several other operations fishing the same locations.

Despite this, we managed to find a few good fish, including some spectacular wolfies and a really special payara.

By chance, both of us had independently chosen the Tailwalk Namazon series travel rods for our main baitcasting setup, in my case the C684H, supplemented by the Tailwalk Bay Mixx S72ML as a light spinning setup.

These rods proved ideal for skip-casting lures right into the structure, where the bigger fish were often lying in ambush.

The Namazon was also ideal for the extremely hard hooksets required to keep both the wolfies and Payara on the line.
