Tailwalk
Crimson
The Tailwalk Crimson range sits just above the Hi-Tide SSD In terms of quality. Slightly lighter blanks combine with a lovely cork grip and crimson red graphics. They are designed to cover all different types of fishing with rods in the range for everything from inshore boat fishing to freshwater predators.
Particular models sell very well for us. Bass anglers love the 82ML and 83M rods before their lightness and steeliness. The 83M in particular is exactly the style of rod that many Japanese brands don’t really produce these days – having that super light crispness to the blank which makes working lures surface lures in particular, incredibly easy. The 82 has a slightly more elastic tip, making it a beauty with lighter lures. However there are rods in the range for all types of preferences.
What do we think?

Ben SaysRod Blanks
There are actually different design principles built into the blanks within this Crimson range. The 82 and 83 models are again the best for us to talk about as examples, as they demonstrate the two styles within the range. I believe the 83M (35g max.) has a 40T carbon tip section while the 82ML (28g max.) uses 30T. The butts are similar. I may be wrong on the exact tonnage, but the higher numbers in the 83 are indicative of it’s increased steeliness. Whereas the 82 has a more elastic feel, meaning it’s easier to bend (easier to cast lighter lures with). It’s also an easy rod to work lures with as the increased softness makes timing slightly less critical.

Ben SaysReel Seat & Grips
Cork is always a bit of a “marmite” feature with lure anglers. It’s comfortable, very light and weirdly a bit warmer to hold on a cold day, but if it’s not good quality stuff then they can suffer a little durability wise over time. Naturally these are good quality, and the fact that they use EVA for the rear grip means that you’ll not have any issues at all with these. They do look classy in the flesh and the grip provided by the cork is absolutely lovely.

Ben SaysGuide Information
As with so many rods we sell, there are Fuji SiC’s throughout this range. What’s worth noting here though is that the heavier models in the range (80MH, 88MH etc.) include double leg butt guides, while lighter models have single leg for lightness. This goes hand in hand with their intended uses, given that more powerful rods are usually going to be used in slightly crazier scenarios.

Ben SaysFinishing Touches
Overall, you’ve got red, gold and burgundy to appeal. I really like it. Something a little different to the norm and as with all rods in this price range – and certainly those from Tailwalk – the Crimson is incredibly well finished.

Tailwalk have grown to become one of the UK’s most respected Japanese tackle manufacturers. Known here mostly for their high quality, good value lure rods, the brand has many fans across all disciplines of lure fishing. What differentiates them from other brands is their diversity and suitability to a UK lure fishing scene that is not specifically Japanese in its inspiration.
