Apia
Foojin’Z (6th Gen.)
New for 2025/26, the 6th generation of Foojin’Z rods is groundbreaking. These are literally the first rods in the world to be produced with 100% carbon. I don’t know how they do it, or what they’ve done. But with carbon technologies moving forward, and Apia being masters in this trade, the resulting range of rods are as close to perfection as rod building gets.
Featuring the highest quality guides, inserts, reel seats and carbons available on any rod today, the Z range is for those that desire the best possible fishing rods. Apia have always been about more than just features however, and their designs ensure maximum fishing efficiency through the models in each range.
What do we think?

Ben SaysRod Blanks
Unique. How do they feel? You may be surprised… Not totally abnormal. Just incredible. Overall slightly tighter than the previous model of Foojin’Z’s. The 6th Generation’s “X-FORCE100” construction layers carbon fibers at a 45° angle with a single prepreg for high torsional strength. This results in a 100% pure carbon rod, eliminating the need for traditional reinforcement layers. This means that the new Z’s are are sensitive, light, and incredibly easy to fish with, while also having all the power you’ll need when hauling fish from the rocks and weed! They also have the Apia “nano joint” which ensures absolute smoothness in the transition from tip to butt power and bending.
For the geeks, they’re using Toray’s M46X, T1100G and M40G carbons. It’s with how Apia use and combine these carbons that makes what they do throughout their ranges so clever. The whole blank is also wrapped in what they call their “Shield Tech” which protects the blank from scratches – which given the quality of the rods and the associated price involved, all anglers will be keen to know it’s there!

Ben SaysGuide Information
As expected of a top-top end rod, the Z’s use Fuji titanium frames with Torzite inserts. throughout for overall lightness and saltwater resistance. The previous range of Z’s had SiC inserts top and tail for durability (which makes sense), but these new ones go the whole hog.

Ben SaysFinishing Touches
I’ve always loved the styling of Apia rods, but these have to be the best yet. Blingy without going too far. The red and gold colour scheme is beautiful You’d never see anything like this on a lesser range of rods. They’ve just done it so well. I love that everywhere you look down these rods, there is something classy to look at, especially around the reel seats with the scripted text and beautiful layout of the decals.

Few will argue that Apia are THE fishing rod brand to beat. For quality and design ingenuity, it’s very hard to compete with what Apia do. Far from being a generic manufacturer, their rod ranges are so diverse that every rod is unique to the range.
