What a rod! This new model from Zenaq will be a different style to what most guys are used to. Initially designed as a squid rod, it quickly found many fans in Australia in particular who found its action and design perfect for fishing soft plastics too! Unless you’re a squid fishing connoisseur, in the UK this rod is perfectly suited to our estuary fishing, and especially with weedless or lightly weighted SP’s. Like I said, the action is different to most: while initially tippy, the thin blank diameter below the mid-way joint means it will bend right down to the grip when pressure is exerted. This means that casting lighter lures is effortless, but also that you’re in very safe hands once a fish is hooked, with just the right amount of both cushioning and power to ensure that a bass’ lunges are absorbed and hooks aren’t pulled, especially on light lines. That said, it’s not a soft rod. There’s still power there and certainly enough in the tip to fish a light topwater with absolute ease. Possibly even a Patch 125. I need to try it, but I’m confident. Hand made in Japan, the Inqlude series is just stunning in the flesh. The unique Zenaq grips are absolutely lovely and the rod is really well balanced. I LOVE the RG guide system and plonked on a blank of this quality…… Wow. Like I said, different to the norm being more progressive in action, but if you appreciate a rod with all the power you’ll need, but also want it to bend, this could well be in. Especially if you appreciate quality fishing gear.
