Speaky 3000XGX
The 3000 size of the XGX reels is most comparable to a Shimano 4000/5000 or slightly larger than a Daiwa LT4000 (I think). I have these on my open coast rods – typically 9’+. The larger, bulbous handle knob gives you loads to hold on to when conditions get a bit gnarly. Weirdly they’re not too much smaller than the 3500 from this range (which we aren’t selling), and are bigger than the original Speaky 3000HGX.

Speaky 3000XGX
The XGX models are known for their high-speed retrieves – a feature I love for a lot of my own fishing. Slow retrieves are obviously still easy just by turning the handle more slowly, but I find the extra speed they will supply really helpful when trying to skip a lure back over some snaggy ground, or cranking in a bow that’s looking likely to get close to some barnacle encrusted rocks.
The Speaky range is incredibly smooth and my time fishing with them over the past couple of years has been brilliant. Easy to service too!
